Break the Ice

After an uncharacteristically freezing cold week down South, Spring's finally a-brewin'! AKA there are 49 days left until the first day of spring and yes I am counting them down. Winter is known for being, well, cold. And dreary. So here's to seeing the sun in the near future.

Cheers to the start of another Fashion month! MBFW starts February 6th.

Here are some looks we saw predicted on the runways last fall to inspire your Spring wardrobe:

Kate Spade NY - Bright Colors
Oscar de la Renta - Ladylike florals
Milly - Sexy/Sporty
Mara Hoffman - Boho
Rebecca Minkoff - Summer in Mexico
Monique Lhuillier - Color

Red Valentino - Girly Girl

No boys allowed!

As you all may know, this summer I got the chance to spend a week in NYC. On one of my shopping escapades I picked up this one of a kind, 1950's vintage prom dress (which I wore to my senior homecoming!) and also had the best experience at Shareen, a spectacular vintage shop.

Tulle, lace, and soft pastel blue.. sigh, I'm a girly girl.

The shop is on 13 West and 17th Street and you have to ring the buzzer to get in, there's also a signature red/pink dress hanging outside so you know you're at the right place:

One of Shareen's other cool factors is that the shop is strictly NO boys allowed. This means you can try on clothes wherever you want in the store! The girls there were super sweet and helpful; the dress I saw was just what I had been dreaming of...

Here's a final pic of the dress pre-homecoming! :)

I'm a sucker for vintage, it's always a great way to go if you want to break away from the sea of plastic rhinestones and cheap looking laméplus it gives the dress so much more meaning!

P.S. A VERY special thanks to Anna Pociask for taking phenomenal senior pictures (I'll post some more later) she has become a great friend and such an inspiring role model to me, check out more of her work here: Anna Pociask Photography

New York, NY- Passion for Fashion Workshop

On the corner of 7th and 27th stands my long-time dream school! And after spending a week in New York, I still can't express everything this school and this trip meant to me. But I was able together just a few highlights of this packed week:

Field trip to Mood Fabrics? I know you watch Project Runway, and I know place this pretty freaking awesome.

Working hard, planning one of our daily projects!

With Professor Nancy! Love being taught by industry professionals..
Endless Fabric, Endless Buttons!!

I also loved visiting other schools, like Parsons!

Lovely skyline view from the roof of MoMA PS 1 in Queens.

Seeing the infinitely famous 'Starry Night' - a dream come true. @ MoMA
Just a fraction of the stunning artwork I saw. In love with this culture..
@ 5 Pointz in Queens (Maybe you recognize the building from Now You See Me?)
@ MoMA

And some fashion for you! Some mood boards pre-photoshoots and projects.
So now, a few months later, I've applied to FMM at FIT and hope and pray everyday I'll be excepted. With less than half of the applicants being accepted, I'm scared to death!

But I made truly lasting friendships during my time in the city, and here are a few girls I REALLY hope I'll be going to school with and seeing again soon :)

Lots of Love, a New York gal at heart

Pre F/W 2013/14- Late Re-Cap

Am I the only one mad at that groundhog?

You know, the one that predicted an early spring? Fashionistas must look on the bright side, it's still chilly (and yes, I also check the weather in New York), but its a great time to take an early advantage on the Fall/Winter trends this year. The February shows were stunning as always and I can't believe I'm just now getting together my absolute favorites, better late than never!

My personal picks for 2013/2014:
Diane von Furstenburg
diane-von-furstenberg-fall-2013-18

Jason Wu

Louis Vuitton

London Fashion Week
Topshop Unique

Milan Fashion Week
Fendi

Paris Fashion Week
Valentino

Another Valentino highlight:

Betsey Johnson

Betsey's show was absolutely NUTS, I had no idea what I was watching, but I loved it. She never stops having fun; I really look up her independent creativity, she does what she wants! You must watch:

Thank you to everyone who takes time to even glimpse at my blog! Be on the lookout for a Spring post (finally) next! So excited, news and surprises to come. :)
Have a diamond studded day XO

"How do you walk in those shoes?"

If you've worn heel-less shoes, you've been asked this question.

(and really, its not as hard as it looks!)

I saw them and had to have them. A while back I was scrolling through the priced-down shoes on makemechic.com,thanks to Seventeen magazine, and was enchanted by the vibrant royal blue. And now I'm finally getting to post about them.
