September is Fashion Month

I've been surviving successfully in the city for four weeks now: I've been to the MET, the Cloisters, MoMA, and the Whitney, I've been in the live audience of America's Got Talent and Live! With Kelly and Michael, and I've volunteered at my first fashion week show! Yes, I still have a lot of homework to get done in-between. To catch up a little on how I got here:

First day outfit
Recreate the look:

Woke up at 3am to wait 10 hours in line with the roommate to sign up for fashion week volunteering. Many people had camped out all night! Don't mess with determined fashion students:

Backstage selfie at Zang Toi, Red Carpet Reception where I got to be a dresser!

Due to licensing and legality reasons I'm not allowed to put up any backstage pictures from Zang Toi (sad face!) but below you can see the entire collection for yourself: (but I have to say, seeing the clothes up-close and in person is a whole other experience)

This week I'm also volunteering for an event called Coterie, a market event where buyers come to visit hundreds of amazing exhibitors. I will be part of the Ronen Chen exhibit (a stunning Israeli designer) and I can't express how excited I am to experience this side of fashion! At least this time I'll be able to post pics ;)

Let's just say "almost-monochrome"

Here is one of my #ootod's: AKA outfit of the other day...what I wore last Monday to keep off the rain, and with a little more bundling it will work for snow!

On those day's when you don't want to get out of bed, think almost-monochrome:

Longsleeve-Forever 21, Jacket-Kardashian Kollection, Black pants-Calvin Klein, Boots-Hunter, Bag-H&M, Jewelry-Vintage, Lipstick-Rimmel no. 10

Another fashion-week post to come :)

"How do you walk in those shoes?"

If you've worn heel-less shoes, you've been asked this question.

(and really, its not as hard as it looks!)

I saw them and had to have them. A while back I was scrolling through the priced-down shoes on makemechic.com,thanks to Seventeen magazine, and was enchanted by the vibrant royal blue. And now I'm finally getting to post about them.

Bring on the New Year//Style for 2013

Everyone enjoying January? I know New Years is one of my favorite moments! It's full of dresses and glitter and bubbly drinks with friends. This is a late post of my New Years outfit:

I decided to not go with classic sequins and instead picked a nice tiny deep plum colored bodycon dress with a rich fur vest from Forever 21 and a turquoise necklace to pull it together.
I did get my fill of glitter with sparkly eye liner and shadow though!

I really love the gold accents to this necklace, also from Forever 21, and it helped bring out the browns in the  faux fur.

This year some of the things I hope to do are grow my blog, visit New York, and eat healthier. What are your New Years resolutions?
